From July 1 to October 1, 2011, artist Jo Ann O’Rear will draw or paint 40 pieces of art that will feature cows to promote a culture of peace. These 40 pieces of art will be unveiled at an art opening in early October 2011 in Northwest Connecticut, upon which they will go on sale to the public.

The public art project will encourage people to connect through art and generate dialogue while helping to preserve the rural character of the area.

Why Cows?
A universally beloved animal, cows contain an almost magical quality that makes them transcend age, religion, race and class. A great equalizer, they project neutrality on those who view them. Thus, 40 Cows For Peace is more than a public art event; it is a language that will lead to greater consciousness amongst those who participate in it.
